TEDxVancouver is often regarded as one of the best places to meet fascinating new people. The TED discussions draw a certain audience toward it that is eager to learn, looking for inspiration and discovering new ideas.
The TEDxVancouver committee wants to help every step of the way – starting with getting everyone to the event safely. Whether you live in East Vancouver, or you’re visiting from the Island, we have put together a guide to get you to and from the Orpheum Theatre on event day.
TEDxVancouver Visitor & Traveler’s Guide
The Venue
The Orpheum Theatre is a recently renovated concert hall in the midst of the Granville Entertainment District, so it’s no more than a few paces to great food, entertainment, and accommodations.
Where to Stay?
Need a place in downtown Vancouver to stay for the weekend? The Burrard has you covered!
The retro hotel was redesigned and renovated in 2011, but the original garden from the 1970’s remains intact! Take advantage of a prime location that is near the Orpheum Theatre, Robson shopping district and only a bus or seabus ride away from Kitsilano or Granville Island.
TRANSPORTATION
Vancouver is the city of many transportation options – here are our favourites we think you’ll find useful:
- Car2Go is a simple car-sharing service with cars strategically placed all over downtown Vancouver. Sign up for membership and have use of a car for a day without worrying about fuel, insurance, parking, cleaning, roadside assistance, etc.
- Biking! There will be bike racks outside of the Orpheum Theatre to lock your bike up. If you don’t own a bike, consider renting one for the day or weekend from places like Bayshore Bike Rentals or Spokes.
- Walking, and if you have some time to spare take a detour and explore some of the neighbouring areas. Bonus points if you catch the sun rise over English Bay!
- Taking public transit is another easy way to get to this year’s event. The nearest Skytrain stop is Granville.
