TEDxVancouver 2011 is fast approaching!
On November 12, TEDxVancouver will celebrate its third annual event by infusing the world-renowned TED platform with local energy and spirit, in tandem with a line up of outstanding speakers. Past TEDxVancouver speakers have included Oscar nominated filmmakers and documentarians, human rights activists, iconic media personalities and local thought leaders.
Speakers for the 2011 event have been hand picked for their inspired thinking and acclaimed accomplishments. In the tradition of TED, speakers are challenged to give “the talk of their life” in 18 minutes or less. These talks will be interspersed with mind-blowing performing art demonstrations.
The TEDxVancouver application process is now closed. If you have any questions please contact us.
While you’re at at it, please check out the TEDxVancouver 2o11 Sponsors and Partners…without their support our event would not be possible!
About TEDxVancouver
TEDxVancouver is part of the TEDx family of events. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized
meetings that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The event is called TEDxVancouver, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Starting as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers, some of the most remarkable and accomplished people from all disciplines and fields, have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck, Bono and many more. Israeli speakers at the TED Conference have included Yossi Vardi, Moshe Safdie, Dan Ariely, Shai Agassi and Itay Talgam.
The annual TED Conference takes place in Long Beach, California; TEDGlobal is held each year in Oxford, UK, and last November, the TEDIndia Conference was held in Mysore, India. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily, and the Open Translation Project, with many TEDTalks translated to Hebrew, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where three exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world, and the TED Fellows program helps world-changing innovators from around the globe become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
